Description of the programme/policy

Within the five-year project “Together for the Environment,” Belgrade Open School (BOS) has announced an open call for project ideas for the program supporting civil society and media in participating in decision-making processes and monitoring the implementation of public policies in the field of environmental protection and climate change – Change to Green! The program is targeted towards civil society, which serves as the driving force behind change and a key player in democratic development. This program will provide support to civil society organizations and media in identifying environmental issues within their local communities, fostering social change within those communities, and actively engaging citizens in decision-making processes. The program aims to assist civil society and media organizations that have a strong presence in local communities and ensure that their interests are adequately represented.

Main objective of the programme/policy

The main objectives of the program “Change to Green!” are: To support civil society organizations and media in actively participating in decision-making processes related to environmental protection and climate change policies. To enhance the capacity of civil society organizations and media to monitor the implementation of public policies in the field of environmental protection and climate change.
To empower local communities to address environmental challenges and drive sustainable development through social change initiatives.
To promote citizen engagement and participation in environmental decision-making processes. To raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage public discourse on sustainable development and climate change.

Specific objective of the programme/policy

The specific objectives of the program may include: Providing financial and technical support to civil society organizations and media for the implementation of projects related to environmental protection and climate change. Facilitating networking and knowledge-sharing among civil society organizations, media, and relevant stakeholders working in the field of environmental protection. Conducting capacity-building activities, such as trainings, workshops, and seminars, to enhance the skills and knowledge of civil society organizations and media in the areas of environmental policy, advocacy, and monitoring. Developing and implementing communication strategies to effectively communicate environmental issues and engage the public in environmental decision-making.
Collaborating with governmental institutions, international organizations, and other stakeholders to promote a collaborative and multi-stakeholder approach to environmental protection and climate change.
