Description of the programme/policy
The programme is supporting the implementation of the national regulation on integrated prevention and control of environmental pollution by promoting the transition of Serbian industry to green technologies. The programme will provide support to Serbian institutions in introducing the necessary changes in the legal and administrative framework, which will reduce the impact of existing obstacles and bottlenecks on the regulatory cycle of integrated prevention and control of environmental pollution. The specific implementation plan of the Emissions Trading System Directive (EU ETS) to help achieve national climate goals. The development of new business models will provide support to the industry to reduce its carbon footprint by applying favourable and clean technological solutions. The program is also aligned with Serbia’s commitments to the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal.
Main objective of the programme/policy
The main subject of the programme involves providing assistance and support to competent authorities and companies in the implementation of the Directive, which would reduce the impact of industrial emissions on the environment and human health. The project will provide technical and administrative support to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other competent authorities in the preparation of draft integrated permits for selected companies, as well as in the amendments and preparation of regulations and part of the Negotiating Position in the field of industrial pollution.
Specific objective of the programme/policy
The specific objectives of the program include the development of emission reduction plans for individual installations, the promotion of best available techniques, and the strengthening of the institutional and legal framework for environmental protection in Serbia.
