Description of the programme/policy
The program is of public interest for the Republic of Serbia and is planned and implemented in accordance with the law and other regulations in the field of scientific research and innovation activities. The program is based on the DEVELOPMENT program that responds to the specific needs of society and the economy through clearly defined thematic projects that are in line with the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2021 to 2025 “Power of Knowledge”, the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2020 to 2025, the Smart Specialization Strategy in the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2020 to 2027, as well as the European Union’s strategy “A Clean Planet for All” and the Action Plan “Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition for Air, Water and Soil”.
Main objective of the programme/policy
The general objectives of the program are to provide practical support for cooperation between science and the business sector, based on the use of available scientific potential, financing projects that can significantly impact the further development of society and the economy as a whole, particularly science and applied research by involving excellent researchers in solving vital societal problems and introducing young researchers into scientific research work. It also aims to strengthen the professional capacity of scientific research institutions and create new project teams.
Specific objective of the programme/policy
The specific objectives of the program are to support sustainable development and improve the quality of the environment by addressing problems that lead to undesirable climate change, environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity, and unsustainable use of natural resources. It also aims to enable better monitoring, reporting, and prevention of pollution of air, water, soil, and consumer products, while taking into account the strategic national goals of zero pollution, cleaner circular economy, and biodiversity restoration.
