Description of the programme/policy
The circular economy has been recognized as an important strategic concept for the green transition of the Republic of Serbia, which in recent years has been placed high on the agenda for the development of our society. The green transition is a process that involves economic, energy, and investment transitions, based on sustainable resource and energy use, reducing negative environmental impacts, implementing innovations and digital tools, knowledge, added value, and increasing economic competitiveness.
Main objective of the programme/policy
The general objective of this document is to create a conducive environment for the development of the circular economy, in order to support the green transition in the Republic of Serbia.
Specific objective of the programme/policy
Specific objectives: Supporting the business sector in transitioning to a circular business model; Supporting local self-governments in creating circular communities; Improving waste management systems through more efficient waste utilization in the circular economy; Promoting the adoption of green public procurement and voluntary instruments in environmental protection; Raising awareness among the general public and educational institutions about the concept of the circular economy.
