The Single Market Programme (SMP) is the EU funding programme to finance activities supporting a well-functioning, sustainable internal market. It provides an integrated package to support and strengthen the governance of the single market which enables citizens to live, work and travel wherever they wish, and offers consumers protection and greater choice of high-quality products and services at lower prices. Through legal certainty, access to markets and financial services, investment opportunities and access to funding, the single market is also a launch pad for Europe’s companies.
The Single Market Programme includes the following strands and objectives:
- Food safety
- Consumer protection
- Support to small and medium-sized businesses (strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises)
- A more effective single market (making the internal market work better with improved market surveillance, problem-solving support to citizens and business, and enhanced competition policy)
- High quality European statistics
- Effective European standards
Information about the participation of the Western Balkans in the SMP is available here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/smp/guidance/list-3rd-country-participation_smp_en.pdf.
