New European Bauhaus (NEB)

Last update:

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative has been designed to bridge science, technology, research and innovation with art and culture. In particular, it connects the European Green Deal to the daily lives and living spaces of citizens. It is a creative and transdisciplinary movement that calls on Europeans to imagine, co-create and build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls.

The focus is on

  • sustainability, from climate goals, to circularity, zero pollution, and biodiversity
  • aesthetics, quality of experience and style, beyond functionality
  • inclusion, from valuing diversity, to securing accessibility and affordability

Funding to implement the NEB is provided for example through calls in Horizon Europe. Information about stakeholders is available through the NEB dashboard (https://web.jrc.ec.europa.eu/dashboard/NEB/index.html) – it includes also various examples from the Western Balkans.
